Fruits and vegetables can be exposed to contaminants like pesticides and handling residues, whether they are grown in soil or on trees. Even organic produce may not be immune, as the wind and rain can carry over chemicals from neighboring non-organic farms. Additionally, produce is frequently coated with wax to make it look better and last longer, which can trap bacteria. Simple tap water rinsing may not effectively remove the wax and contaminants.
How about organic produce?
Just being labelled as organic doesn't guarantee that produce is completely free of contaminants. Natural fertilisers can still contain harmful pollutants, and there is still residue from handling from the farm to the store. However, washing your organic produce with Ecoworm Fruit & Veggie wash will not alter its organic status and is a recommended practice for both organic and non-organic produce.
